The past few years have been very peculiar and somewhat overwhelming to many as people have experienced job loss or financial insecurity, fear of sickness, loss of loved ones, loneliness brought on by isolation, food shortages, anxiety from world events, and just a fear of the unknown. This scary and uncertain time can allow worry to seep into our everyday life and fill us with unhappiness. Sometimes, with so much to deal with, just getting up each day can feel like a chore. With the holidays over, many young adults will be heading back to their college campus. Being on a college campus may give you a sense of security. Once you get to know many people on campus, you assume everyone watches out for each other. Unfortunately, there are perpetrators who will take advantage of that false feeling of safety. Nothing can absolutely guarantee safety, and sexual violence can happen to anyone anywhere. However, we can take steps to increase our personal safety, not only on college campuses, but anywhere.
