Charles Lassiter

Charles Michael Lassiter, born in Tampa, Fla. to Charles and Lois Lassiter on Thursday, May 29, 1958, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 63. He passed this life peacefully at home with his wife, Louise at his side. Memorial services were held on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Grant Memorial Chapel with burial following in Kelly Chapel Cemetery. Services were officiated by Pastor Drew Smith.

Michael graduated from Butler High in 1976 and earned a BS in Industrial Design from Auburn University in 1980. He was employed as a manufacturing engineer at SCI Systems and then Intergraph for a combined 12 years. Michael then served for 26 years in the shipping industry in a variety of positions as a commercial line-haul truck driver, achieving the million-mile accident-free safety award. Michael managed his own apartment for four years and launched a new small business to better serve his apartment clients.

Michael was a follower of Jesus Christ and passionately proclaimed the good news of eternal life through His gospel. He sought to build up believers by teaching the truths from God’s word. In 1993 he earned a Masters in Theology from Doctrinal Studies Bible Church’s School of Biblical Theology and launched an online ministry to promote accurate bible translation. Michael was a gifted musician, singer and songwriter, self-publishing two contemporary Christian albums. His love of studying the Bible led to three trips to Israel to volunteer with the Associates for Biblical Research performing archaeological digs.

He cherished his wife, and his happiest times were with Louise in their garden or worshipping together in bible study and singing. He was loyal to his family and friends and diligent to serve faithfully with the talents and gifts God gave him.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Lassiter; sister, Diane (Don) Tanner; brothers, Jerry (Lisa) Lassiter, Brian (Becca) Lassiter; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
