Wilma Hughes

Ms. Wilma Hughes, 88 of Dutton passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Section Funeral Home with interment following at Chaney’s Chapel Cemetery. Ms. Hughes was a well respected farmer who received much recognition in the poultry industry. She enjoyed gardening, especially in her vegetable garden. Ms. Hughes was an avid reader and a talented seamstress. She delighted in her grandchildren and was always ready to help out in any way she could. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Ed) Hornig, Kathy Hughes; granddaughters, Lori (Kevin) Thomas, Larel (Zack Parsons) Edmonds; grandson, Hughes (Abby) Edmonds; great-granddaughter, Claire Thomas; soon-to-be great-grandson, Levi Edmonds; special sister, Jo Adams; brother-in-law, Ed; special nephew, Jeremy (Jenny) Adams; sisters, Joylon Jones, Dianna Anderson, Lynn (Leo) Little, Donna (Jim) Radford, Harriett (David) Nix; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter’s father, Olin Hughes; brothers, Sam, Bobby, Charlie, Mike Headrick. Sincerest thanks are extended to her special caregivers, Tiny Ortiz, Barbara Kennedy, Susan Berry. Teresa Alley and Christy Townson of Alley’s Senior Care; Vicki Pickett of ALACARE/Encompass Home and Hospice. Having survived cancer, Ms. Hughes was very interested in the research and progress toward finding a cure for cancer. With that in mind, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cancer charity.
