Mrs. Evelyn Virginia Simms Neal, 90 of Woodville passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Grant Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Snead officiating. Burial followed in Gunter Mountain Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Neal, a civil servant in her career, was very involved in her community. She served on the ALFA Board of Directors and the ALFA Women’s Committee. During her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling and cooking, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Neal is survived by her son, John Michael (Deana) Neal; daughter, Kathryn (Harvey) Neal-Morris; grandchildren, John Paul (Jennifer) Rise, Stephanie Michele Rice, Brooke Nicole (Billy) Neal, Hannah Elizabeth (Jerred) Cantrell; six great-grandchildren; beloved pet, Minnie; lifelong friend/sister, Billie Ann Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Neal; daughter, Janice Lynn Rice; parents, Gordon Simms, Sr., Donnie Simms; siblings, Gordon Simms, Jr., Buddy Stone, Lucille Neal.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
