Jackson County CAC suffers grant budget cuts

The Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), located in Scottsboro, relies greatly upon financial community support even more as they were recently informed that a large part of their grant budget would be cut by over $37,000, with more budget cuts looming for the next fiscal year. Because of the lack of funds, the center was forced to reduce their staff and the resources available to these children.

Most never know the names of the children they are helping, but their financial support and generosity helped over 145 local children receive therapy and forensic interviews last year. With this help, children who have been sexually abused and/or physically assaulted have been provided a safe place to reveal their devastating experience and receive therapy services to help overcome the trauma inflicted upon them.

A gift to the Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center is an investment in the lives of the children the CAC serves. All services are provided free of charge to their clients, including forensic interviews, advocacy, therapy and expert testimony in court if needed. They rely on private donors for the funds needed to provide these services, and the core of that support comes from the community of individuals who make annual unrestricted gifts.

On behalf of these children, the CAC is exceedingly thankful. Thanks to donations from supporters, the children of Jackson County finally have a local center to make an impact in their recovery from abuse to live healthy and productive lives.

As the CAC embarks on their Year-End campaign, their goal is to raise $50,000 by January 1, 2021. Please continue to support this county’s CAC and join in this critical fight against the devastation of childhood sexual and/or physical abuse by making a tax-deductible donation today.
