Irene Machen Gist, age 91 of Scottsboro, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Gist is survived by two daughters, Lee Gist and Martha (Denton) Kimbrough; brother, Aubrey “Shorty” Machen; grandchildren, John Daily (DeAnna) Gist, Andy (Bethany) Kimbrough, Anna (Ben) Morrow, Allyson (Cole) Young; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a chosen son, Russell “Buzzy” (Joyce) Alley.
Mrs. Gist was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Gist; parents, Evelyn Machen and Aubrey Machen; and sister, Eileen Money.
