Clara Harding

Clara Nell Guinn Harding, 88 of Scottsboro, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Rudder Funeral Home.

She was a faithful member of Faith Covenant Church of God. A tireless prayer warrior, she interceded on behalf of the needs of many people in the community, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws and anyone who she knew had a genuine spiritual need. She selflessly gave from a modest income to help meet the material and temporal needs of other, most often anonymously. Ms. Harding retired from a career in law enforcement after almost 40 years of service. Most of those years were spent serving with the Scottsboro Police Department. She held several positions from school crossing guard to police dispatcher to 32 years as a court magistrate.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Ann) Harding; daughter, Sherry (Darel) Veal; grandchildren, Jeremy (Susan Harding, Josh (Haley) Harding, Anna (Jeremy) Hays, John (Sarah) Veal; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Colton, Tucker and Tatum Harding, Abner Veal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Tilda Guinn; sisters, Myrtle Sharp, Irene Anderson, Annie Harrison, Betty Guinn; brothers, Edward (Pap) Guinn, G.W. Guinn, Rev. Charlie Guinn.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Highlands Medical Center for their genuine care, concern and their kind and courteous words of sympathy for the family. They would also like to thank Dr. Charles Bradford for his many years of providing excellent healthcare for Ms. Harding.
