When the Jackson County United Givers Fund kicks off its fifty-fifth year of fundraising on behalf of Jackson County charities, Bruce’s Foodland will be there to help support the work of UGF and the local programs it helps support.
This past weekend, my family and I were reminded just how amazing our little town is.
According to Jackson County Solid Waste Director Caleb Skipper, there are currently 12,359 residential solid waste customers in the county. Of those, 494 customers are suspended, with balances totaling $171,484.

The state of Alabama currently has 5,700 children in foster care with 220 available for adoption. Jackson County has 100+ children in the system with only 51 licensed and open foster homes, and out of those 51, only 35 homes have an active placement.
