Superhero 5K to benefit Jackson County CAC

The HTPG Superhero 5K will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at HTPG, 201 Thomas French Drive in Scottsboro. The HTPG Superhero 5K race is a nonprofit event with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center. The Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Scottsboro. The center provides a safe and supportive environment to put the children it serves at ease. The staff provides forensic interviews, therapy services and advocacy for local child victims and their families within Jackson County.

This will be their Third Annual 5K with last year’s being postponed due to COVID. The 5K is 3.1 miles and there is also a Fun Run for children up to 12 years of age.  Walkers are welcome as well. So many people think a 5K is only for runners, but there are actually more walkers than runners.  This is a fun event that is family focused.  The Fun Run is dedicated to Brian Bradford, an employee for HTPG who passed several years ago due to a heart attack.  So, it is call the Brian Bradford Memorial Fun Run. Brian was a member of the 5K Committee.   The cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the Fun Run.  The deadline to enter to receive the HTPG 5K shirt is Monday, March 21, 2022.  Winners will receive winner’s medals, and there will also be door prizes.

Participants under the age of 13 should have a parent or guardian also participating in the event, which is to be held rain or shine. Registration and packet pickups begin at 1 a.m. – 7:45 a.m., with the race beginning at 8 a.m. No refunds.
