Dr. John Weldon Parrish, 39 of Rainsville passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Graham and Rev. Jacob Daniel officiating. Entombment followed at Mountain View Memory Gardens.
Dr. Parrish began his PhD at Brown University and completed his PhD in Religious Studies at the University of Alberta. He had numerous articles published in scholarly journals and anthologies as well as multiple presentations at Society of Biblical Literature conferences.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Parrish; parents, Weldon and Bettye Parrish; special family member, Mike (Nona) Morris; uncles, James (Brenda) Parrish, Charles (Lisa) Moore, Tom Silver; aunt, Jane Adams; cousins, Nikki (Brad) Scott, Matt (Lindsey) Parrish, Randy (Scarlet) Silver, Keri (Chad) Carroll, Andi (Paul) Whitsel, Amy (Brandon) Rolling, Colton Moore. He was preceded in death by his sister, Candee Parrish; grandparents, Charles and Nina Parrish, Ira and Chloe Moore; great-grandmother, Ethyl Smith; uncle, Glenn Adams; aunts, Lynn Parrish, Helen Silver.
