Mr. Vernon Ray Newton, of Swearengin passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Grant Memorial Chapel with burial following in New Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Newton was born to john Mitchell and Ada Headrick Newton in 1933. He served in the United States Army, including the Korean War.
He leaves behind his wife, Carmen Maria Rivera Newton; sons, Danny (Sherry) Newton, Scott Newton, Tony Newton; daughters, Susan (Paul) Smith, Shirley Jones; grandchildren, Tiffany Newton, Daniel Newton, Morgan Newton, Adam Newton, Tyler Coffman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mildred Denney, Thelma Mauldin, Odell Newton.
