Wouter Willem Dieperink: – 12/02/20

Mr. Wouter Willem Dieperink was born on a small farm in Westervoort, Netherlands on Monday, July 1, 1946. Wout immigrated to the United States in 1963, paying his way through Ohio State where he met the love of his life, Joan Graska. After marrying in 1970, they traveled the world before starting a family.
Wout and Joan moved to Scottsboro in 1976 as a Project Engineer for Mead Paper Company, where he retired as Engineering and Maintenance Manager in 2009. Wouter was a faithful member of St. Jude for over 44 years and was also active in numerous community activities.
Wouter loved Scottsboro and was proud to be a part of his community. He enjoyed hiking on fall days and boating with friends. He adored his wife, loved his children and was the best playmate to his grandchildren. He was also a devoted brother, caring uncle and loyal friend.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Erick (Stephanie) Dieperink, Michelle (Joe) Belden, Heather (Luke) Optholt; siblings, Martin (Linda) Dieperink, Lidy (Gary) Johnson, Annie (Nick) Gough; grandchildren, Isabelle Dieperink, Abby Dieperink, Laurel Belden, Alice Belden, Joey Belden; Luch Optholt, Emmett Optholt, Ben Optholt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sayde’s Fund for Spreading Hope through FNB of Scottsboro or Sayde’s Fund, 655 Wynn Road, Scottsboro, Ala. 35759 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
