Fishing tip of the week

Time on the Water is Everything
by Mike Gerry

Over my many years of professional fishing the one thing that I always come back to is that
spending time on the water is just irreplaceable. Nothing you can do will mean as much to success as spending time fishing. It is just a pure fact , you can fish all your life but as soon as you take time off, the fish have moved, and you can be lost until you get back staying on top of the changing patterns.

The same thing applies to the time you spend just trying to be a weekend angler. Hitting the water one weekend a month makes it tough to be successful. Sure, you can catch a few fish,
but having the kind of success we all want means spending time on the water.
Patterns change, bites change and fish behavior changes when you’re off the water.

There is just no way most fisherman can spend the time it takes to satisfy our egos, and allow us to have the kind of results that we all want. We all have responsibilities, and we all have to take time off the water; the point being enjoying your time on the water its precious.

If you’re serious about wanting to be successful, all you can do is spend the time you can spare
on the water. This will help you learn the adjustments you have to make so when things change like weather, so you adapt to the conditions. Time of year patterns are also
important as experience gives you the knowledge that will guide you so your experiences lead you to the fish and patterns that the fish should be in.
Time on the water is everything, learning from the time you spend is paramount, be a
knowledge sponge and learn every day!
