2024 Election qualifying ends

Qualification for the 2024 election cycle ended last week. Local offices on the upcoming ballot include United States Representative District 5; Jackson County Circuit Court Judge; Jackson County Circuit Clerk; Jackson County Probate Judge; Jackson County Commission District 3; Jackson County Commission District 4; Jackson County Board of Education District 1 and Jackson County Board of Education Superintendent. On the Democratic ballot incumbent John H. Graham qualified for Jackson County Circuit Court Judge. Graham has held the office since 2006. Graham will face Payton Edmiston who qualified on the Republican ballot.

Republican Daniel Boman will run against incumbent Dale Strong, who has held office since January of this year.

Republican incumbent Bart Buchanan will run unopposed for his position as the Jackson County Circuit Clerk. Buchanan has been in office since 2019.

Republican incumbent Victor Manning will also run unopposed for his position as the Jackson County Probate Court Judge. Manning has been in office since 2012.

For Jackson County Commission District 3 Republican incumbent A.J. Buckner will face Hugh Lewis, Jr. Buckner has held office since 2020.

For Jackson County Commission District 4 Republican incumbent Kevin McBride will face Mike Sisk. Sisk was defeated by McBride in the 2020 election cycle.

For Jackson County Board of Education District 1 Republican Mike Matthews will face David Blizzard. Matthews has held office since 2018.

For Jackson County Board of Education Superintendent Republican incumbent Jason Davidson will run unopposed.

The Primary Election will be held on March 5, 2024 with a runoff, if necessary on April 2, 2024. The General Election will be held on November 5, 2024.
