Johnnie Pedigo

Mr. Johnnie Ray Pedigo, 71 of Scottsboro, born on Thursday, June 25, 1951 to proud parents, Norvel and Marjorie Pedigo, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Johnnie was a devoted family man who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the happiness and well being of his family. He was a loving husband and constant pillar of support through thick and thin. Together, he and his wife created a warm and nurturing home that radiated with love and laughter.

Professionally, Johnnie achieved remarkable success. He excelled in his chosen career as a grocery store manager, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues who regarded him as a mentor and role model. He is also well remembered as a pivotal part of the Grant, Swearengin and Scottsboro communities as the proud owner of the Pedigo Junction convenience stores.

Johnnie possessed a zest for life that was contagious. He had a passion for Alabama football and was always eager to discuss the Tide with others. His presence lit up every room he entered, and his infectious laughter brought joy to all those around him. His warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of countless individuals.

In our hearts, Johnnie will forever remain an irreplaceable figure. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear. We find solace in knowing he has found eternal peace and is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. His departure has left a void in our hearts, but his spirit will continue to live on in the memories we shared and the values he instilled in us. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Pedigo; loving children, Kristie (Michael) Shankles, Kimberly (David) Poteete; adoring grandchildren, Tyler (Kaitlin) Shankles, Arick Shankles, Brennen (Sunny) Shankles, Kailee Poteete, Ean Poteete, Isaac Poteete; great-granddaughters, Adelaide and Athena Shankles; brother, Jackie (Diane) Pedigo; a host of relatives and friends who were touched by his presence.
