Mrs. Greta Combs Stiefel, 69 of Rainsville, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryant Bowlin, Rev. Roger Graham and Bro. Byron Fricks officiating. Burial followed in Kirk Memorial Gardens.

Greta was an educator who spent her 25 years in education at Fyffe High School. She always said that being a teacher was her dream job. Her passion for education was obvious to her students and colleagues. She attended Maranatha Baptist Church. After retirement, she spent her time serving others. She loved to bake, lead bible studies and was active in the DeKalb County Jail ministry. She lived her life on Earth with the core purpose of growing the kingdom of God.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Stiefel; son, Marshall (Nicole) Stiefel; daughter, Lacie (Byron) Fricks; grandchildren, Brayden Fricks, Brylee Fricks, Landrie Stiefel, Ruby Stiefel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cora Combs; brother, James Combs.
