Highlands Medial Center Continues to Require Masks Inside Hospital

Following the April 9 mask mandate expiration in the State of Alabama, Highlands Medical Center will continue to require staff, patients and visitors to wear a mask when inside the facility. According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, masks remain one of the most successful tools to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

CSNA: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Crisis Services of North Alabama (CSNA), a 501(c)3 non-profit, has been serving Jackson County’s most vulnerable with two sides: the sexual assault side, run by Teresia Smith, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and the domestic violence side, run by Christina Hays, Domestic Violence Services Coordinator/Special Assessment Intervention Liaison (S.A.I.L.) Specialist and Rebecca Hieronymi, Domestic Violence Victim Services Coordinator.

Heritage Center addition update

This week at The Heritage Center, installation began on the kitchen cabinets. The second coat of paint was also applied to the exterior. The color match is a seamless transition to the original color of the Brown-Proctor building.

Scottsboro Mayor makes State of the City address

Scottsboro City Mayor Jim McCamy delivered the State of the City address on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Because of COVID the speech was given virtually with the help and virtual capabilities of the Jackson County Economic Development Authority and Executive Director Nathan Lee. The Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted and coordinated the event.
