God is Gracious

Exodus 34 is a pivotal chapter in the Old Testament because, in it, God characterizes Himself. Moses has recently received–and subsequently broken–the original Ten Commandments, so God is having him remake them. And God says to Moses about Himself:
God is Love

If any characteristic of God is well-known, love would be it. Scripture is certainly clear on the subject. 1 John 4:8 states, “…God is love.” John, the Gospel writer, does not simply describe God’s character as loving, but describes the very essence of God’s nature as love.
The Just God

How many times have you heard, “That’s not fair?” Or how about, “Because I said so.” These are common phrases you probably heard growing up. As we grew up, we realized that life isn’t fair because fair is subjective. Our parents, being the authority in our lives, had the right to tell us to do something, and we were expected to do it. So, who decides what is fair and what dictates authority? It all comes from a just God.
God is Patient

When we describe someone as “patient,” we generally mean that someone is good at waiting.
