It is painful to watch someone deal with hurtful situations and not be able to rescue them. Watching someone you love trying to survive in a domestic violence filled relationship can be very difficult. And it can be even more so if they boomerang, leaving and returning multiple times. You may feel sad, angry, and even feel like giving up on your loved one and all those emotions are totally understandable. Instead of giving up, I urge you to educate yourself about the intricacies of domestic violence, how you can best respond, and what local services may be available to assist.

The Difference Between Looking and Really Seeing!

Have you ever found yourself staring at an object for a long time only to draw a blank when someone asks you what you’re looking at? Sometimes we look but fail to really see. There must be some spiritual application to this concept. Jesus used it in reference to those who are outside of relationship with Him. “That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them” (Mark 4:12; also see Matt 13:14-15). Certainly, in regard to the Gospel there are many who look directly at God’s Truths and fail to see the implications thereof.

The high school dating scene can be tough. Navigating teen romance is not for the faint at heart and it is very important that we give our teens the tools that make dating and relationships healthy experiences.

Christ, Our Banner

In a time of war, a banner or flag has traditionally been used to rally troops forward into battle. Furthermore, it’s a means of showing whose side we’re on. The Olympics open and close with the wonderful parade of teams carrying their flags from the various countries represented. What pride it causes within the spectators as they see their “banner” coming by. When churches send their youth (or adults) to participate in a convention and a banner from their home congregation leads the group in, one can’t help but get caught up in the emotion of it.
