Move Look Adapt
by Mike Gerry
With the tough fall conditions and the fish in a funk until they turn on for the fall bite there
are a few things that one can try and live by during this time period; that is to move, look
and adapt to the conditions the lake offers you. There are always difficult times in bass
fishing and the fall is one of the most challenging. Being aware that in the fall transition the fish can be all over the lake from deep to shallow to rocks, grass and all in-between is the
reason you must be on the move.
Cold Muddy Conditions
by Mike Gerry
As we approach winter, we will soon see our rain increase. The rain will muddy up the water and the water temperature will decrease as we progress into the cold nights of winter. There is probably no tougher time of year and no tougher conditions than this cold muddy winter fishing.
Winter Mistakes
by Mike Gerry
As we progress past the fall into winter there are some key issues that stick out to me as mistakes that can be easily made ,if you don’t keep focused on the task at hand. Although here in the south we don’t get nearly all the cold weather other parts of the country get, we
still experience the slow down until we start feeling some warming near February.
Lake Etiquette
by Mike Gerry
As fishing becomes more and more popular, the lack of etiquette on the lake seems to get
worse. As the crowds increase so does the lack of understanding about each other’s space
and the amount of time it takes to get your boat set up, put in and out and on the water fishing. It
doesn’t take a lot of thought to be considerate of each other on the water as there are just a
few do’s and don’ts.
Advantage of Gold Blades
by Mike Gerry
As time has moved on over my many years of fishing and guiding, one thing that I have always believed in, when fishing in Guntersville with a spinner bait, is having at least one gold blade but preferable two on your blade.
