The Scottsboro Tree Commission celebrated Arbor Week by planting a tree in memory of Charles Bradford on Thursday. Bradford, who passed away last December, served in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a prisoner of war. Bradford was reactivated in 1949 and served as Commander of Company B. In 1951, he took 164 young men to Korea where they built and rebuilt bridges and roads. Captain Bradford brought the Company home safely in 1952. Among those attending the tree planting ceremony were members of the Tree Commission, Bradford’s friends and family; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Charles Bradford, III and Nancy. The tree was planted at the Page School Building.
