Help your local community by giving the gift of life. Blood Assurance, the non-profit regional blood center, will host a blood drive on Friday, March 5 at Walmart in Scottsboro from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. First Jackson Bank in Stevenson will also host a blood drive on Monday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, March 11 Cumberland Health and Rehab in Bridgeport will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Section Pharmacy will also host a blood drive on Tuesday, March 16 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Your one gift of a blood donation can save up to three patients in the community, as Blood Assurance is the only provider of blood for local hospitals, including Highlands Medical Center. Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. All donors will receive a Blood Assurance t-shirt as well as a complimentary snack. Visitors at the blood drive can also register to win one of four green baskets, which contain earth-friendly items.
