After dropping their first two games in a pre-season tournament, the Scottsboro Wildcats have won its last three games to push it’s season record to 3-2.

"We have hit the ball pretty well," Scottsboro head coach Scott Dobbins said after the Wildcats’ three wins.

"We have a lot of players who haven’t had much varsity experience that are starting to get a feel of what it takes to compete at the varsity level."

Against DAR on Saturday, the Wildcats posted nine hits in route to a 5-1 win.

Zack Mardis went 2-for-2 while Trey Brizendine, Philip Jones, Cole Border, Ethan Smith, David Gonder, Holden Beck, and Matthew Lockmiller each collected hits.

Smith got the win on the mound.

Against Albertville, the Wildcats outlasted the Aggies 7-6.

Mardis finished with 3 RBI while Beck went 2-for-3. Smith and Lockmiller each had a RBI.

Brizendine got the win on the mound, giving up seven hits over four and a third innings.

In the final game of the preseason tournament, the Wildcats defeated Lee 10-7.

Smith got the win on the mound while Caleb Brown earned the save.

Brown and Border each finished with two hits while Brizendine, Mardis, Lockmiller, and Beck each had a hit in the game.

After winning the three games, the Wildcats moved on to hosting Plainview on Tuesday night in its first home game.

"Plainview has always been a good team," Dobbins said. "They always play us tough."

The Wildcats also have a tough area to compete in that includes Madison County, Arab, and Fort Payne.

"Our area is very competitive," Dobbins said.

"Ft. Payne is probably the favorite, but Madison County and Arab are good teams that always play hard against us."

After hosting Plainview on Tuesday, the Wildcats will play Lee on Thursday and then host Gasden City and North Jackson on Saturday.
