The jury, consisting of eight women and four men, took a little over eight hours of deliberating to come back with a guilty verdict. During deliberation, on two different occasions, the jury asked Judge John Graham for the definition of reasonable doubt.
The jury heard testimony from Craft’s ex wife, Judy Jones, who testified she was forced by Craft to go to the house and help drag Edwards’s body to a well on the property. Testimony was also heard from Anthony Southeard, an ex coworker, of Craft, who said Craft had told him Bobbie was dead, gone, in a well, and wouldn’t be found. Southeard also testified, he saw Craft with the .380 pistol, but never saw the gun again after Edward’s body was found.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips also testified during the trial. Phillips was lead investigator in the case and during his testimony a video was shown to the jury. The video was taken the day Edwards body was found and pulled from the well.
The jury heard testimony from a ballistic expert that said the bullet that was found in Edward’s body was from a gun that Craft had once owned. Jackson County Sheriff’s Investigator Bart Buchanan, testified that in 2004 Craft made a statement to him that he had bought the gun in 1991 but had sold it at Collinsville Flea Market two months after buying it.
After the guilty verdict was read, Jackson County District Attorney Charlie Rhodes said "If what Craft was saying was true, it was an unbelievable coincidence, the gun he owned but sold at a flea market, killed his stepdaughter at his sisters abandoned house." Rhodes said, "I thought the physical evidence supported the testimony" and "was not surprised the jury deliberated as long as they did. This was a 17 year old case"
Chuck Phillips stated "I am sad that Bobbie’s mother, Louise, is not alive to see justice for her daughter. This was a heavy burden on Louise and it’s just sad that she is not around to see justice." Phillips said, "Cases like this stick in the back of our minds, we want to solve them all."
