The Skyline Vikings continued its winning ways last week under first-year head coach Derek Wynn. After defeating Athens Bible in the first round of the Class 1A Area 14 tournament, the Vikings took down rival Woodville last week for the Area 14 Championship.
In a heated battle, the Vikings defeated the Panthers 63-57. Nick Talley led Skyline in scoring with 22 points while Travis Sisk chipped in 15 points. From that win, the Vikings hosted Gaston in the sub-regional game. Fortunately for Skyline, Gaston didn’t pose much of a threat in a 87-64 victory. The win moved Skyline’s record to 21-6 for the year and also earned them a trip to play in the regional tournament at Jacksonville this week. Skyline was scheduled to play Holy Family in the first round of the region tournament on Tuesday night. Winner of that game will go on to face the winner of Cedar Bluff vs. Parkway Christian in the finals on Friday. Winner of that game will advance to the final four in Birmingham.
