Guntersville found itself with a 29-9 lead at halftime.
That lead only increased in the second half as Guntersville cruised to a 51-22 victory.
In the loss, Rachel Gass led Scottsboro in scoring with eight points.
Unfortunately for Scottsboro, the varsity boys couldn’t get the win over Guntersville either.
In a game which the lead seemed to change about every possession in the second half, Scottsboro found itself on the losing end after Guntersville scored with three seconds left in the game to win 66-64.
Scottsboro took a six-point lead in the second quarter after Blake Paradise sank two free throws with 5:12 on the clock.
Guntersville managed to storm back in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 33-31 lead at halftime.
Guntersville pushed its lead to seven in the third quarter, taking a 51-44 lead heading into the final stanza.
Scottsboro chipped away at the Guntersville lead and tied the game with 1:36 left in the game after Deuntae Johnson completed an And One to make the score 62-62.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, Guntersville got the win on a layup with three seconds left in the game.
Blake Paradise lead Scottsboro with 16 points, while Jake Lewis and Ben Word each had 14 points.
Both the varsity girls and varsity boys will be on the road this weekend to compete in the area tournament. The varsity boys will play at Arab while the girls will play at Fort Payne.
