Super Bowl 44 may be a high scoring affair PDF Print E-mail

If you like games that have a lot of offense, Super Bowl 44 may be the football game for you to watch.

The game will feature the NFL’s best offensive team, the New Orleans Saints, and possibly the greatest quarterback of the past decade in the Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning.

Both teams were at one time riding on the similar path this season towards perfection.

The Saints were 13-0 at one point during this season while the Colts pushed their record to 14-0 before suffering their first loss.

Both teams have proven that they can score points in bunches and in a hurry.

However, as the game gets closer, the major story lines will gear more towards Manning’s chance to become the elite and the city of New Orleans’ ability to overcome Hurricane Katrina by rallying around a team that is notoriously bad.

America’s choice of course will be to root for the Saints. After all, how can you not root for a team named the "Saints"? However, the Colts are a classy small-market team that were at one time, pre-Manning era, lovable losers.

So, in my book, both teams deserve to be where they are. However it is my hope that its the Colts who will bring home the Lombardi trophy.

Maybe I won’t be excommunicated from the church for going against the Saints.
