The Scottsboro Wildcats picked up two wins last week to gain some much needed momentum heading back into area play. On Tuesday, the Wildcats had five players score in double figures in an 88-72 win over Ft. Payne.
After jumping to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter, the Wildcats never trailed in the remaining three quarters. Ben Word paced the Wildcats to victory with 24 points. Blake Paradise finished with 15 points while Deuntae Johnson had 12 points. Jake Lewis and Sammy Douglas each had 11 points in the win. On Friday, the Wildcats found themselves in a back-and-forth battle with DAR. The Patriots took a 36-31 lead at halftime, but the Wildcats regained the lead in the third quarter after a Jake Lewis three pointer with 4:18 on the clock. In the fourth quarter, DAR came back from a six-point lead to have a chance to win or tie the game in final second. Fortunately for Scottsboro, the Patriots couldn’t get a good shot off. The Wildcats won 70-68. Word led the Cats with 18 points. Lewis finished with 17, while Douglas had 14 points.
