Lady Cats play Ft. Payne tough, take down DAR PDF Print E-mail

The Scottsboro Lady Wildcats had an upset brewing on Tuesday night against Fort Payne.

The number four ranked team in Class 5A found itself trailing Scottsboro 34-33 at halftime.

The Lady Cats took a three-point lead in the third quarter on an Emily Glover bucket with 3:40 left in the stanza.

Fort Payne managed to claw its way back to a one-point lead at the end of the third, 48-47.

Unfortunately for Scottsboro, Fort Payne pulled away in the fourth quarter. The Lady Wildcats scored just eight points in the final quarter while Fort Payne finished strong with 20 points in the final stage to take a 68-55 win.

Rachel Gass led the Lady Cats in scoring with 18 points. Tyris Branford finished with 15 points.

Katie Kirkland and Emily Glover finished with eight points each.

On Friday, the Lady Cats picked up a 69-61 win over DAR.

Rachel Gass led the Lady Cats to the victory, scoring a game-high 36 points. She had 22 points in the first half.

Branford finished with 12 points while Kirkland had three three-pointers to finish with 9 points.

The Lady Cats will take on Etowah this Friday night at Hambrick Hall.
