MLK celebrations to be held Saturday and Monday |

The Jackson County Voters League will sponsor a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Memorial Day Celebration Lunch on Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Scottsboro Rec*Com. For more information call 574-2166 or 574-5887.
On Monday, January 18, the 4th Annual Martin Luther King Community Unity Celebration will be held at the Joyce Chapel UMC located at 428 W. Willow Street. The location will also serve as the future site of the Scottsboro Boys Museum and Cultural Center. The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Desiree McGann, D.P.M. McGann, a native of the island of Jamaica, followed in her family friend and mentor’s footsteps and enrolled at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. She completed her residency at Illionois Masonic Medical Center and Cook County Hospital. She received her surgical training at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.
