Mardis makes All- Region team, four Cats get honorable mention PDF Print E-mail

Scottsboro linebacker Zac Mardis was named to the Class 5A Region 7 team for his performance during the 2009 season for the Wildcats.

Mardis had 133 total tackles for the Wildcats which included nine tackles for a loss. He also had three sacks and a fumble recovery.

Boaz’s Drew Phillips was named MVP for Class 5A Region 7.

Phillips rushed for 1889 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Pirates.

Fort Payne quarterback Kyle Crabtree was named the offensive MVP while Boaz’s Chase Williams was named the defensive MVP.

Four other Scottsboro Wildcats received Honorable mentions for the team.

They were Khaleem Jones, Jeffery Moore, Jordan Baker, and Trey Brizendine.

Jones led the Wildcats in total yards with 759 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.

Moore had 34 total tackles from the defensive tackle position. He had 6.5 tackles for loss and one interception.

Baker, also a defensive lineman for the Cats, had 49 total tackles and eight tackles for loss.

He also had one sack and one fumble recovery.

Brizendine had 54 tackles on defense and one interception while having 304 yards of total offense for the Wildcats.
