Pending clearance from the U.S. Department of Justice, Alabama will hold its Presidential Preference and Statewide Primary on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Alabama Legislature approved Act 2011-566 to change the date. According to the Act, in years with Presidential Primaries, the election will be held on the second Tuesday of March. In years that are not presidential election years, primaries will be held the first Tuesday in June.
