Sign-ups have begun for Leadership Jackson County. Co-sponsored by Jackson County EDA, Jackson County Cooperative Extension Office, and The Greater Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Jackson County is a program designed to develop and enhance community leadership.
The Scottsboro Fire Department will host a Breast Cancer Fundraiser on Saturday, September 24 at Fire Station One. The fundraiser will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Sunday, September 11 will mark the tenth anniversary since the terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. Most Americans refer to the day as 9-11 (nine-eleven). The day was officially declared Patriot Day by the passage of a joint resolution in the House of Representatives on October 25, 2001 and became a law in December of the same year.
The 18th Annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011. Line up will begin at 7 a.m. and will leave downtown Bridgeport (at the Alabama line) at 8 a.m. CST closely following the Trail of Tears Route on US Highway 72.
The 12th Annual Old Timers Festival will be held Saturday, September 10 in Rosalie beginning at 10 a.m. The event is free with free parking and will be held next to Rosalie School. There will be continuous entertainment, arts and crafts and food for the entire family.
