Sittin’ and knittin’ - 12/15/10
With Christmas upon us, here are directions for four Christmas decorations. These can be hung on your tree or used to decorate packages. In any case, enjoy!
Each decoration uses no more than 1/2 an ounce of worsted weight yarn - a good way to use those scraps, size 7 or 8 needles and a tapestry needle.BELL:
Cast on 16 stitches leaving a long enough tail to sew seam. Right side row: knit. Wrong side row: p6, k10. Repeat these two rows until you have 21 ridges on the right side. Bind off in pattern on row 2.
Cut yarn leaving enough to run through the top and make a loop at the end for hanging. With tapestry needle, thread the yarn through one strand of the nub of each ridge on the garter stitch edge and draw up to close. Make a loop for hanging and weave in ends. Sew the seam, weave in ends and trim.
