SEPB and TVA to co-sponsor demand response program

The Scottsboro Electric Power Board is partnering with the TVA-EnerNOC Demand Response Program, to give commercial, institutional and industrial customers of local power distributors in the TVA service territory the opportunity to earn money and drive energy savings through demand response in order to support reliability of the local electric grid and to help maintain affordable electricity across the Tennessee Valley region.

Participants of the program will receive recurring payments in return for agreeing to reduce electricity demand. There is no cost to participate. EnerNOC will manage participation from start to finish ensuring  that customers receive the highest possible financial rewards. Participants will also receive access to their facility’s on-demand energy data through DemandSMART, EnerNOC’s comprehensive demand response application.

EnerNOC makes participation easy. Their expert team will identify energy reduction potential and create an enrollment strategy that delivers maximum value with the minimum impact on operations.  They install necessary metering devises at facilities to establish communication with their Network Operations Center so energy consumption can be monitored in real time, 24 hours a day.  EnerNOC will simulate a demand response event to ensure that customers are comfortable with their energy reduction plans.  At this point the customer’s site is enrolled and ready to respond if and when an event is dispatched.

When TVA anticipates the need for support, it dispatches the EnerNOC network into action. EnerNOC will then send a notification via email, phone or pager, informing the customer that an event will soon begin. At the start of the event a facility will reduce its electricity usage according to a pre-determined energy reduction plan. Before, during and after an event, the NOC remains in communication with facilities. Their staff will be available at all hours, supporting customers to ensure that they achieve the highest possible levels of performance and payments.
