Stewart to seek council seat

Long time Scottsboro resident Patrick Stewart has announced his intention to seek election to the Scottsboro City Council. Stewart will seek the Place 2 seat currently held by Gary Speers. Stewart is a member of the Scottsboro Commercial Development Authority. He is the manager of Big C Pharmacy.

Scottsboro resident Larry Kirkland also announced his intent to seek the Place 2 seat.

Other candidates who have announced their intent include Brent Miller and Thermon Bell (incumbent) who will seek the Place 1 seat.

Councilwoman Carol McCrary announced her intent to run for mayor. She will face incumbent Melton Potter.

Qualifying begins on July 3. The Municipal Election will be held August 28.
