Haynes, Wynn take over reigns of Wildcats’ varsity basketball

The Scottsboro Wildcats basketball program will now be under the direction of two new head coaches. With varsity boys’ head coach Jerry Kirkland and varsity girls’ head coach Robin Kirkland stepping down after last season, Scottsboro had to go through the hiring process for both positions.

From a pool of several applicants, Glenn Haynes was hired head coach for the varsity boys’ position. Haynes comes to Scottsboro after coaching at Sylvania. He led the Rams to a 21-12 record last season and to a Class 3A Northeast Regional Championship game appearance.

Derek Wynn will be making the transition from being a varsity boys’ head coach at Skyline to being the varsity girls’ head coach at Scottsboro. Wynn led the Vikings to three area championships in his three years at Skyline and to a Northeast Regional tournament appearance.
