The Scottsboro City Council approved a resolution to match $60,164 with the state to meet the needs of public transportation for senior citizens in the city at their last meeting.
These funds are already in the budget and according to City Attorney Steven Kennamer the cost has gone up less than $10,000 in the past 20 years. They also approved a resolution to declare five city police cars as surplus property, and amended a resolution to sell Street Department surplus to an individual buyer or as scrap metal.
The council appointed Matt Lockmiller to the Goose Pond Parks and Recreation Board; there were five other requests for appointment to the board.
Councilman Thermon Bell appointed Doug Bryant to the Airport Advisory Board.
In closing remarks Council Member Keith Smith asked when the council would resurrect the North Broad Street railroad crossing matter. Matthew Hodges said that a committee had meetings in progress and that he hoped to have options presented to the council as soon as possible.
