Municipal elections gearing up

Candidates in the City of Scottsboro are gearing up for the upcoming Municipal Election.

Last week Brent Miller, a political new comer, announced he will seek the Place 1 seat of the Scottsboro City Council. The seat is currently held by Thermon Bell. Miller is the owner of The Portrait Collection and Championpix.com. He is the son of Dennis and Mary Miller.

Council woman Carol McCrary announced herĀ  intent to run for mayor of Scottsboro. McCrary was elected to the Place 3 seat of the Scottsboro City Council in 2010. She is employed with First Southern State Bank as the assistant vice president of the Scottsboro branch.

Mayor Melton Potter said he will seek re-election. Potter, the former Scottsboro Fire Chief ,was elected to office in 2008. Qualifying for the Municipal Election begins on July 3. The election will be held on August 28.
