Historical group schedules third annual banquet

The Skyline Farms Heritage Association will  host its 3rd Annual Dutch Treat Banquet  on Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at the Cumberland Mountain Community Center (Old Skyline Funeral Home) at 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from any SFHA member or you may call Cindy at 256-587-6626 to reserve your plate. The menu for this year is country cooking – ham, fried chicken, pintos, turnip greens, slaw, fried potatoes, cornbread, dessert and choice beverage. Plates/tickets are a $10 donation to the Skyline Farms Heritage Association.

The Rock Store, the home of the Skyline Farms Heritage Association is located on Jackson County Road 25 in Skyline near Skyline High School and will be open from 1-5 p.m. prior to the event.

The Skyline Farms Heritage Association was established in 1998 with the goal of preserving, protecting and promoting the unique history of the Skyline Farms and Cumberland Mountain area of Jackson County.

The Skyline Farms Heritage Association meets on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Skyline High School home economics building. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.

Persons interested in making donations or loaning historic artifacts from the 1930’s & 1940’s are encouraged to contact Cindy or James Rice at 256-587-6626 or 256-587-3013.
