The Scottsboro Wildcats track team traveled to Gulf Shores this past weekend to compete in the AHSAA Class 5A state championship meet. Both the varsity girls’ and varsity boys’ squads participated in the event, hoping to return to Scottsboro with state championship trophies and individual championship medals.

The Scottsboro girls’ team finished runner-up at the meet with a score of  111 points. St. Paul’s won the meet with a score of 137.5 points.

The Wildcats had several individuals who turned in impressive performances in their last meet of the season.

In the 800-meter run, Olivia Thompson finished second overall with a time of 2:23.65. Savannah Roland finished 12th overall while Maggie Thompson finished 19th.

In the 1600-meter race, Olivia Thompson placed third overall with a time of 5:27.48. Maggie Thompson finished fourth overall while Roland placed sixth.

In the 3200-meter race, Jamie Delay finished second overall with a time of 11:48. Maggie Thompson finished fourth with a time of 11:50, while Alicia Atilano placed fifth.

Adrianna McQueen finished third overall in the 100-meter dash. She had a time of 12.53 seconds. McQueen also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Kaitlin McBride placed seventh overall in the 400-meter race. She finished fifth in the triple jump and 14th in the long jump.

Mary Ellen Sandlin placed fourth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.93.  Sandlin was also sixth overall in the 300-meter hurdles.

Emily Eustace placed second overall in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet. She also finished ninth in the high jump and 14th in the triple jump.

Aquanita Branford finished eighth in the javelin, tenth in the triple jump, and 18th in the long jump.

In the pole vault, Marcie Roberts finished third overall.

In the shot put, Janea Davis placed 10th overall while Shalesha Robertson took 17th.

Davis took third in the discus throw while Robertson placed fourth. K’Hadijah Branford took sixth in the discus.

Shely Childress placed 13th overall in the 300-meter hurdles.

The 4x100-meter relay team finished second overall with a time of 50.06 seconds while the 4x400-meter relay took second overall with a time of 4:09.

The 4x800-meter relay team placed third overall.

The Scottsboro boys’ squad finished sixth overall with a score of 37.5 points. St. Paul’s won the meet with a score of 76.5 points while Walker placed second. Scottsboro finished eight points behind fifth place Briarwood.

In the 1600-meter race, Evan McGee finished fourth overall. Daniel Pierce placed sixth while J.D. Reynolds took seventh.

McGee finished seventh in the 3200-meter race while Reynolds took ninth and Cody Hasselbring finished 13th.

Madison Estes placed seventh in the 800-meter race and 13th in the 400-meter race. Jayson Jackson finished 18th in the 400-meter race.

In the pole vault, Charlie Roberston placed third overall while Devin Book took fifth and Rhett Roberts finished sixth.

Cale Patterson finished 15th in the discus and placed 20th in the shot put.

In the javelin, Drew Ferrell finished eighth overall.

The Scottsboro 4x800-meter relay team placed second overall while the 4x400-meter relay team finished seventh.
