Jackson County Relay for Life starts Friday
It’s that time again when Jackson County comes together as a community to celebrate another birthday for all friends and family that are “Survivors” and to remember those that courageously fought but lost the battle.
Come celebrate with the survivors that heard those words that are spoken every day, to an estimated 212 people in Alabama alone, “You have Cancer.” Take steps around the path with others and enjoy an evening of good food, lots of fun and fantastic music. Instill a feeling deep within you by participating in this worthy cause, so that today you can say “I am helping to make a difference.”
With the lights turned off, and only the luminaria bags lit around the track, the survivors will make their lap around the track at 9:30 p.m. That’s what we Relay for! We want to make everyone who has heard those cancer words a survivor.
This year Jackson County’s Relay for Life theme is “Books.” Each team has chosen a book to base their fundraising booth around. Some of the books chosen are: Little Red Hen, The Hope Tree, Hunger Games, Cowboy Jack the Sheriff, A Bad Case of Stripes, Twilight, and many more. Wow, can you just imagine the types of food and games at each booth that will be available for each of you.
A photo booth will be sponsored by the Grapevine, and for the little ones, there will be live pony rides!
Did you know that a lot of the Teams spend the night, just because “Cancer never sleeps”. It’s our way of saying we are there for you, we won’t give up. Games, and activities are planned throughout the night along with awesome snacks. The event will end with breakfast at 5 a.m. and our last walk around the track at 6 a.m.
Please join us on Friday May 4th at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Fairgrounds in Scottsboro for the Relay for Life of Jackson County.
