The Living Proof Ministries, Inc. that operates the Camp ToknowHim at Pisgah was chosen by the Moriah Christian Children’s Home (MCCH) Board of Directors to receive the Moriah House.
The MCCH closed its doors in October 2010. The MCCH Board of Directors offered to donate the home to three separate faith based children’s home with no results. Requests and proposals for use of the property were solicited and received from several non-profit organizations. A realty company also listed the property for a six-months period with no offers.
After prayerful and careful considerations of all requests for the property, the Moriah Board voted to donate the house with 2 ¼ acres land to the Living Proof Ministries.
The Living Proof Ministries Board of Directors and Roy Nelson, Director, and J.T. Nelson, Assistant Director, of Camp ToknowHim said the Moriah house is perfect for small group retreats for couples, men, women, pastors and also to house volunteer workers that come to help at Camp ToknowHim and in the community. To learn more about the plans for the Moriah House check their website in the near future at www.camptoknowhim.com.
The Camp ToknowHim is an interdenominational Christian youth camp and retreat center located in Pisgah, AL. Their mission is to strengthen youth in Christ, proclaim the gospel to the lost, and nurture God’s people in the truth of His word. They believe it can be used of God to provide a place of rest, challenge God’s people and equip them for service and ministry, all to glorify God.
The Moriah Board of Directors is at peace with the transfer of the home to Living Proof Ministries because the property will continue to be a blessing to many and to honor the Lord.
The remaining acreage of the Moriah farm was sold. The MCCH Board plans to donate the funds to the churches that helped to build and maintain the home and also to provide some scholarships funds to the Northeast Alabama Community College. Some donations have already been made to churches, schools, civic and other non-profit organizations.
