Mu Alpha Theta Algebra 1 Bowl held at NACC

Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society at Northeast Alabama Community College, recently hosted an Algebra I Bowl for area Algebra I students.  John Carver, a Scottsboro Jr. High School 8th grader, had the highest score.  The Mu Alpha Theta officers presented him with a TI-84+ graphing calculator, certificate, and M&M’s (Math Matters!).  
The purpose of Mu Alpha Theta is to promote the study and enjoyment of mathematics. Students who are mathematics majors or students who are interested in mathematics are encouraged to become members.  Requirements for membership are: Completion of MTH 112 Precalculus Algebra or a higher level mathematics course; and a 3.0 GPA overall in all two year college mathematics courses at or above the MTH 112 Precalculus Algebra Level; and pursuing a higher level mathematics course, that is one above the MTH 112 Precalculus Algebra level.
