The Scottsboro Wildcats track team hosted the Class 5A Section 3 meet this past week. The meet is held every year as a qualifier for the annual AHSAA state championship meet.
Both the Scottsboro boys’ and girls’ teams won the event in convincing fashion.
The girls scored 225 points in route to their first place finish.
Adrianna McQueen finished first in the 100-meter hurdles, second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash.
Mary Ellen Sandlin finished first in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the 400-meter dash.
Kaitlin McBride placed second in the triple jump, third in the long jump, and third in the 400-meter dash.
Shelby Childress finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the 1600-meter race, Olivia Thompson finished first overall while Maggie Thompson finished third and Savannah Roland took fifth.
Olivia Thompson also placed third in the 800-meter run while Roland finished fifth and Maggie Thompson placed sixth.
Maggie Thompson won the 3200-meter race while Alicia Atilano placed third and Jamie Delay finished fourth.
Emily Eustace finished first in the pole vault, sixth in the high jump and sixth in the triple jump.
Marcie Roberts placed second in the pole vault.
Aquanita Branford placed fourth in the long jump, third in the triple jump and eighth in the javelin throw.  Breanna Mitchell finished fifth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the long jump.
Janea Davis placed second in the shot put and third in the discus throw. Shalesha Robertson finished ninth in the shot put and second in the discus.
K’Hadijah Branford placed fifth overall in the discus.
The 4x100-relay team of Childress, McQueen, Eustace, and Sandlin finished first overall while the 4x400-meter relay team of Childress, McBride, Branford, and Sandlin finished first as well.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Roland, Delay, Maggie Thompson and Hailey Altonji finished second overall.
In the boys’ division, Scottsboro finished first with a total of 103 points.
Evan McGee paced the Wildcats to the victory by winning the 800-meter race, the 1600-meter race and finishing fifth in the in the 3200-meter run.
Madison Estes finished fifth in the 400-meter and placed sixth in the 800-meter race.
Jayson Jackson finished seventh overall in the 400-meter race.
J.D. Reynolds placed sixth in the 1600-meter run and ninth in the 3200-meter run while Daniel Pierce placed 11th in the 800-meter race and fifth in the 3200-meter race.
Cody Hasselbring finished sixth in the 3200-meter race.
Rhett Roberts, Devin Book, and Charlie Robertson finished first, second, and third respectively in the pole vault.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Carson Hutchins, Jackson, Estes, and Robertson finished first overall while the 4x800-meter relay team of McGee, Estes, Pierce, and Jackson finished third.
Cale Patterson placed fifth in the discus and eighth in the shot put while Drew Ferrell placed fourth in the javelin and Nate Johnson took eighth in the long jump.
