Steven Michael Hess Payne, 28 of Scottsboro, passed away Sunday, Apri1 15, 2012. Funeral services were held Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Pete Hess and Rev. Clarence Webb officiated. Interment followed in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Payne is survived by his mother, Denise Hess, of Scottsboro; father, David Payne, of Scottsboro; sister, Ashleigh (Brandon) Payne, of Scottsboro; brother, Corey Smith, of scottsboro; grandparents, Cody and Ruby Hess, of Scottsboro, and Donald Payne of Sylvania; great grandmother, Essie Ferguson, of Rainsville; aunts, Debbie (Dale) Ferguson, Kathy (Tony) Fossett; great uncles and aunts, John (Betty) Hess, Berith “Bea” Hicks, Arthur “Ott” Hess and Kenneth “Pete” Hess; cousins, Deandra Ferguson, Delayne Ferguson, Taylor Fossett, Noah Fossett and Jessica Clifford; and special friends, C.D. Venable and Dustin Stephens. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elizabeth Johnson; and great grandparents, Pauline and Earl Smith and Mammie and Clyde Hess.
