The Scottsboro Cross Country teams traveled to Decatur this past weekend to compete in the Dew it on the Trails Invitational.
The Wildcats performed admirably against tough competition with the varsity girls placing second overall and the varsity boys winning the meet.
In the varsity boys race,
Lucas Sieb paced the Wildcats to the victory with a second place finish.
Sieb finished the race with a time of 15:42.
Andrew Green was Scottsboro’s second finisher. He placed fifth overall.
Evan McGee followed Green with a sixth place finish, while Daniel Pierce followed McGee in seventh place.
Jacob Cantrell finished 23rd in the race while Nate Brewer placed 28th.
Devin Book finished 35th overall and was followed by Austin Baggett (37th), J.D. Reynolds (40th), Cody Hasselbring (42nd), Jayson Jackson (43rd), Jake Lewis (48th), and John Keller (52nd).
The Wildcats scored 39 points to take the win.
In the varsity girls’ race, the Scottsboro team was edged out by Mountain Brook for the win. The girls squad placed second overall with a score of 61 points.
Maggie Thompson was Scottsboro’s top finisher, placing seventh overall.
Olivia Thompson was Scottsboro’s second finisher, as she turned in an 11th place finish overall.
Jamie Delay finished 16th overall for the Wildcats, while Savannah Roland finished 18th.
Roland was followed by Hailey Altoni (19th) and Kameron Smith (25th).
Alicia Atilano placed 35th while Andolyn Parrish finished 49th.
Other Scottsboro runners in the race included : Laura Serrano (57th), Emelie Pierce (72nd), Anna Weaver (84th), Jessie Lambert (87th), Claire Quinlivan (99th) and Megan Gamble (116th).
In the junior high race, the girls squad finished first overall with a score of 48 points.
Jordan Buchanan finished third overall while Sara Gamble placed fourth.
Ellie Phillips finished seventh and was followed by Claire Hancock (15th), Daniela Velez (23rd), Ellie Pitchford (61st), and Shelby Rogers (62nd).
The boys junior high team placed second overall with a total of 48 points.
Grissom won the event with 38 points.
Spencer Porch was the top finisher for Scottsboro, placing fifth overall.
Rob Reynolds finished seventh while Britton Roland placed eighth.
Jackson Vickers finished 12th while John Breland took 16th.
Arick Shankles finished 21st while Wyatt Jones placed 23rd.
Other finishers for Scottsboro were: Bryant Karrh (24th), Justin Smith (27th), Matthew Vickers (28th), Alex Patrick (34th), Logan Bates (39th), Hunter Tidwell (43rd), Avery Dukes (96th) and David Harnden (112th).
