CC Cats fare well in Jesse Owens Classic

The Scottsboro Wildcats Cross Country team traveled to the Oakville Indian Mounds to compete in the annual Jesse Owens Classic this past Saturday.
The meet features several of the top programs in Alabama and the surrounding states and is considered one of the largest meets that the Wildcats compete in every year.

In the girls’ gold elite division, the varsity girls squad placed second overall in a field that featured nearly 400 runners.
The Wildcats scored 150 points, while Oak Ridge won the event with a score of 126 points.
Maggie Thompson was Scottsboro’s top finisher.
She placed 11th overall.
Olivia Thompson finished 17th overall for the Wildcats, while Jamie Delay placed 20th to give the Wildcats three runners in the top 20.
Savannah Roland finished 53rd overall while Hailey Altonji placed 61st. Kameron Smith finished 62nd while Andolyn Parrish took 120th .
Alicia Altonji finished 121st while Jessi Lambert placed 122nd.
Anna Weaver placed 165th while Claire Quinlivan took 183rd.
Sara Gamble finished 210th while Emelie Pierce placed 227th.
Jordan Buchanan placed 249th and Megan Gamble finished 283rd.
The varsity boys squad competed in the gold elite division and placed  fourth overall.
The Wildcats finished with 206 points, while the first place team, Parkview, finished with 99 points.
Lucas Sieb was Scottsboro’s top runner.
He placed fourth overall with a time of 15:52.
Evan McGee was Scottsboro’s second finisher. He placed 23rd overall.
Andrew Green finished 29th overall and was followed by Daniel Pierce who placed 42nd.
Nate Brewer finished 113th for the Wildcats and was followed by Austin Baggett (143rd), JD Reynolds (144th), Cody Hasselbring (145th), Jacob Cantrell (166th), Jayson Jackson (182nd), Devin Book (202nd) John Keller (222nd), Jackson Vickers (244th), Spencer Porch (278th), Wyatt Jones (308th), and Alex Patrick (349th).
The junior high boys squad placed third in the junior high division race.
Rob Reynolds led the Wildcats with a 19th place finish while Britton Roland finished 27th.
Arick Shankles placed 40th while John Breland finished 50th.
Justin Smith finished 55th while Matthew Vickers placed 83rd.
In the junior high girls race, Madison Karrh was Scottsboro’s top finisher. She placed 51st overall.
She was followed by Sonni Hood (98th), Marianna Royal (113th), and Claire Hancock (142nd).
