It’s styling... - 02/23/11

Tabatha Coffey stars on Bravo’s reality series, “Tabitha’s Salon Makeover”.  Tabatha was born in Surfers Paradise, Australia on May 17, 1969.  She was introduced to hairstyling at the early age of 14 when she started as an assistant in a local salon.  Realizing she wanted to learn more, she eventually took a four-year apprenticeship program a year later, and then moved to London to continue her training for the next three years.

She was a contestant in the Bravo reality show Shear Genius, hosted by actress Jaclyn Smith.  Trying out because of sheer curiosity, she quickly earned a reputation for her outspokenness and intensity.  She was a frontrunner in the competition, winning most of the challenges during her stay, but she was ultimately eliminated with her teammate.

Tabatha has stayed in the spotlight and continued to get major styling gigs.  In 2008 she got her own reality series.   During the episodes she takes the keys and operational control from a salon owner.  She is strict, straight forward, critical, creative, and for a week the salon owner’s salon is hers.  It is an interesting show and in the end usually gets them back in shape and turns their salon around.

Tabatha has her own salon in Ridgewood, New Jersey, “Industrie Hair Gurus”.  She lives with her life partner of 10 years in New Jersey.  Catch her show on Bravo and next time you enter a salon you may think differently about the operations of the salon.
