Rescue Squad to hold bass tourney for fundraiser

Rescue SquadThe Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad will host a 10K Bass Tournament on March 10 at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro.

Entry fee will be $140 per boat on the day of the tournament and $120 per boat if received by February 28. There will also be an optional $10 Big Fish Pot. Guaranteed prizes include $5,000 for first place, $1,350 for second and $800 for third. Payouts will continue down the line to 10th place with additional prizes for every 10 boats over 100 that register.

All proceeds will benefit the Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad, a volunteer organization with 36 members serving one of the largest counties in Alabama. The volunteers are on call 24/7, 365 days per year and provide rescue services for caving and hunting accidents, search for lost or missing people, water search, rescue and recovery, storm relief and many other types of rescues when called upon. The Rescue Squad also assists surrounding counties when called upon.

The Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad was founded in 1960. Many of its volunteer members have served on the squad for more than 20 years.
